Are You Running with Small Minds… You Are the Company You Keep?

The feeling of wanting to belong and not be “judged” is as old as time. We are trained from childhood that we must “fit in”… heck in many ways, it is a necessity for our survival.  How many times or feelings have you bought into growing up, that you later came to find out where “less than true”?

Now as adults we continue to carry that false fear of judgment or desire to “fit in” with us… and essentially kill off parts of ourselves so that we can be loved, or belong, right?

The rub is that, there are unfortunately, a lot of small thinkers in the world. They live through false fears, limitations, judgments, conclusions and their worlds’ are very very small. They may even talk a big game, right? About how they “could have done this, if….” “I could have been that”… heck, I know for certain, I have said that… “I could have been a doctor, if that teacher didn’t tell me that Black people weren’t good in math or science”…. To this day, I am not sure where she got this from… heck, I skipped a few grades in school.. Notwithstanding… as adults, we get to choose who we BE… we don’t have to buy the ANGLES of others. YAY!

I love quotes as you know… and there is an awesome quote by Jim Rohn… that is so very   apropos… it goes.. .

“You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

small thinkers checklist

Are the people in your life worried about small things and constantly talking about what other people have… or what other people should be doing? Do their lives represent what they say they want for themselves??? Or are they caught in a cycle of “trying” and “putting things together”.

Use the checklist and think… Is that ok?

Remember the words of R. Buckminster Fuller….
